On Halloween & The Holiness of God

On Halloween and the Holiness of God.
I don’t think there are gods out there. But I don’t mind that you believe in One.
I also don’t care much about Halloween. So I don’t worry whether you like it or not.
But this is not about that. This is about you and the Holiness of God.
To hear you talk so brazenly about what God thinks about Halloween makes my head spin.
How?
How can you think so highly of yourself?
How can you think yourself so wise that you: … comprehend the mind of the Incomprehensible One? … conceive the purposes of the Inconceivable One? … fathom the thoughts of the Unfathomable One?
As we observe this vast cosmos, whose boundless waves echo across incalculable eons of time as galaxies dance with trillions of stars - we ought be humbled to the utmost.
If there’s is a God above all this, then this God is wholly Other, wholly Separate, wholly Unique.
And you, my dear friend, really think your mind can contain the thoughts of such a God?
Hubris.
It’s the height of human arrogance to think the concerns of the Endless One line up with your atavistic fears and emotions.
It’s the peak of vanity to think Ground Of Being takes your side on the many trivial disagreements you have with others who also believe with passion.
It’s a parade of self-glorification to think the Eternal One is displeased with your child dressing up as batman, because you think it’s scary.
You may think you are defending some “Divine Truth” but you are only defending opinions that were generated by your own fickle mind.
You’re not defending God.
You’re defending you
I don’t know much, but I know one thing: if there is a God, the Inexhaustible One is not as naive, finicky, & reactionary as you.
Feel free to do whatever you may, but please, for the love of God, don’t say you speak for God.
In the wise words of one leading contemporary philosopher, the esteemed Kendrick Lamar: “be humble”
